About This Release
==================
There was a more or less serious bug in the bitmap reader Zoom!
used to determine which blocks were to be skipped before compression
causing Zoom! to emit partly corrupt archive files. This bug has
been fixed, thanks to Michael Beer who discovered this undocumented
feature and who was able to send me a sample disk which produced the
error!
Older Zoom! releases will still work correctly provided that the
`clear unused blocks' option is not in effect. Strange enough the
error was happening at random and very rarely as well; your older
Zoom! archives may still be intact.
This release is contained in a new self-extracting archive which
was put together in roughly two hours time. Nevertheless the archive
file is smaller than in the previous release (about 20 KBytes). I
will try to rewrite the archive utility to use Lh in the future
(believe it or not, the archive header was written in `C' and is just
604 bytes in size).

This release is being distributed in the form of a self-extracting
archive file. To obtain the distribution files, enter the Shell/CLI,
type `ZOOM.EXE' and press return, the following files will be created
in the current directory (it may take quite a while):
Release Date: 09-Jan-91, 14:50
Zoom (CRC = $2E79D5C3, Size = 55200 Bytes)
Zoom.info
ZoomCheck (CRC = $2538C75C, Size = 18164 Bytes)
ZoomCheck.info
CRC (CRC = $4F5177B9, Size = 4104 Bytes)
Zoom.doc (Size = 30073 Bytes)
Use the CRC utility to verify if the `ZOOM.EXE' file is in correct
state (enter `CRC ZOOM.EXE' and press return). The WRAP checksums of
all executable files should be zero.
Release Date: 09-Jan-91, 14:53
ZOOM.EXE (CRC = $2B097302, WRAP nonzero, Size 59344 Bytes)
If the checksums do not match the given sample, the archive has
been accidentally corrupted or deliberately modified!
If you don't trust the checksums, send me a letter or electronic
mail (adresses listed below) and ask for the `factory checksums':
